Expect roundabouts, changing speeds and holiday traffic rather than a fast, uninterrupted finish.
- The first section from M5 to Tiverton is dual carriageway; the remainder towards Barnstaple is single carriageway with limited overtaking sections.
- Approaching Barnstaple, follow signs for Braunton, Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. Many routes take you through or around Barnstaple, towards Braunton, then on through the last rural and coastal roads to Woolacombe.
- If you are arriving on a busy summer Saturday, the last section from Barnstaple to Woolacombe can be the part that tests everyone's patience. Do not judge the journey by the motorway miles.
