Surf beach: steeper gradient and rock features
Steeper gradient at the high-tide line; soft, loose sand across most of the upper shore; rock formations and shingle at the beach edges. Route from car park to beach is uneven with a gradient. - Tide timing: surface firmness and beach width change with tide at all four beaches. At Woolacombe, Saunton and Instow, low to mid tide gives more compacted sand and a wider accessible strip. Check tide times and aim to arrive on a falling tide where possible.
- Beach wheelchair: confirm hire availability, equipment type and any booking requirement directly with the operator. A scheme existing in a previous season does not mean it is running now.
- Accessible toilets: provision varies by beach.
