At Putsborough Beach, high tide usually means less usable sand and a smaller margin for spreading out. It does not automatically rule out a visit, but it does mean you should check the live tide panel, read current signs and look at the beach before committing to a long stay.

Putsborough is the southern end of Woolacombe Bay, beside Baggy Point rather than Woolacombe village. High tide is the wrong moment to carry everything down first and ask questions later. Before you settle, pause at the access point and look at how much dry sand is actually available, how close the water is to the back of the beach and whether any signs or local notices change the plan for the day.
Be realistic about the space your group needs. A quick look from the beach may be fine when conditions suit, but a base with bags, windbreaks and children needs more room and an obvious exit. If the tide is still pushing in and the beach is already narrow, treat that as your answer.

Check what is posted locally on the day and use RNLI guidance if anyone in your group is planning to go near the water.
